Quick recap if you’re just joining: my Shopify store had quietly accumulated eleven apps, including a countdown timer permanently stuck at “3 left” and a reviews app I’d apparently been paying for twice since April, under two different names, after a rebrand nobody told me about. That was the night I stopped asking which app to add next and started asking why I needed eleven of them in the first place.
The answer turned out to be that I didn’t. Most of what those apps were doing (reviews, upsells, cart recovery, trust badges) turned out to be things a single Shopify theme could handle natively, without a separate subscription and a separate login for each one. I moved everything over to Debutify, and the eleven-app graveyard became one theme with the same functions built in.
The math worked out almost insultingly well in the other direction this time. Running that many apps separately typically costs $50 to $100 a month combined; the bundled version starts well under that (free to try) paid plans from roughly $20 to $30 a month for the conversion tools switched on. My store got cheaper and faster on the same afternoon, which is not a sentence I expected to say about my own store.
Cancelling “Legacy” triggered one last pop-up asking me to rate my experience on a scale of 1 to 5. I did not dignify it with a number.
I’ll admit the new theme isn’t without its own personality. It has strong opinions about font pairings I don’t always share, and getting it to stop suggesting a “limited time offer” banner for a product that is neither limited nor on offer took more clicking around than I’d like to admit.
This is where I ended up: Debutify. If your app dashboard currently resembles a group chat you’ve muted, or you know someone whose countdown timer has been stuck at “3 left” since spring, this is worth passing along.
